In 2013, Janneke van der Ros published a report on the first survey on trans persons' living conditions in 2013. Today, she works at The Centre for Equality in Hamar, and at the Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences.

Van der Ros is born and raised in the Netherlands. She met a Norwegian man during her studies. They subsequently married, had a daughter and moved to Norway in 1969. She started a degree in Political Science at University of Oslo, later completed a research stay in the US before returning to Norway to work as a researcher.

When she was working as a senior researcher at The Center for Equality in Hamar, they were funded to complete a survey on living conditions amongst trans persons in Norway. The research report following the survey was published in 2013, and was the first of its kind.

In this excerpt from the interview, Van der Ros speaks about a few of the people behind the stories that formed the report.

The complete interview is available at Skeivt arkivs reading room. Skeivt arkiv met Janneke van der Ros at Lillehammer, February 2019.
