Jorun Astri Hagelund was married to a man for 25 years, and had two children in this marriage. As an adult, she came out as a lesbian and became active in Late Bloomers, anetwork group for persons who come out as queer late in life.

In our interview, Hagelund talks about her childhood in Oslo and a young adulthood where being something other than heterosexual was completely unknown. She married early and filled her days with work, children and routines. However, she always felt like something significant was missing, without being able to pinpoint exactly what. It wasn't until a crisis she realized who she really was, and started living her new life.

In an excerpt from the interview, Jorun talks about the time when she finally dared contact Late Bloomers, and for the first time admitted to herself that she was a lesbian.

The complete interview is available at Skeivt arkivs reading room. We met Jorun Astri Hagelund in Lillehammer, February 2019.
