Anne Henriette Reinås Nilut (born 1993)

Anne Henriette Reinås Nilut, member of the Sami Parliament - the publically elected parliament for indigenous people of Norway.

She grew up in a small sami community. In our interview with her she talks about growing up in a community with strict gender roles, where being in opposition to that was difficult. She also struggled somewhat with her sami identity.  As an adult she has made a career as a producer for the sami cultural festival, Márkomeannu.

In this clip from our conversation, she talks about the importance of the book Queering Sápmi, the first book on being queer and sami. She also gives the story of the first Sápmi Pride in Kautokeino, 2016.

The whole interview is available at our study space. Reinås Nilut was interviewed in Alta, march 2019.
